Summary:

ThecompetentNurse,inthesameorsimilarclinicalsetting,practicesindependentlyanddemonstratesanawarenessofallrelevantaspectsofasituation.Providesroutineandcomplexcare,withtheabilitytoonlong-rangegoalsorplans.Continuestodeveloptheabilitytocopewithandmanagecontingenciesofclinicalnursing.Makesappropriateassignmentsanddelegatestoothercareprovidersasameanstohelpmanagetheclinicalsituation.

Responsibilities:

  • MeetsexpectationsoftheapplicableOneCHRISTUSCompetencies:LeaderofSelf,LeaderofOthers,orLeaderofLeaders.
  • ConsistentwiththeANAProductandStandardsofPractice,providesnursingcareutilizingthenursingprocess,includingassessment,diagnosis,planning,interventionandevaluationforassignedpatients.
  • Addressesincreasinglycomplexpsychological,emotional,cultural,andsocialneedsofpatientandfamiliesinaccordancewiththeirlevelofpractice.
  • Usingtheappropriateprotocol,administersmedicationsandtreatments;monitorsforside-effectsandeffectivenessofthetreatmentprescribed.
  • Documentspatienthistory,symptoms,medication,andcaregiven.
  • Assesslearningneedsandprovideseducationtopatients,familymembersand/orcaregivers;identifyissuesandresources.

  • AllnewlyhiredexperiencedRNsmustattendNewNursesOrientationwithinthefirst30daysofhire.
  • Newhiresarepreceptedbyadesignatedtrainedstaffmemberandinitialon-boardingrequirementsarevalidatedthroughsuccessfulcompletionofthedesignatedorganizationalentrycompetencyvalidationandaMedSurgspecificcompetencyvalidation.
  • AllnewlylicensedRNsmayparticipateinaresidencyprogramorotherspecificorientation.Skillscompletionandcompetencycompletionwillbeachievedwiththepreceptoratthebedsideanddocumentedthroughtheprogramstrackingsoftware.
  • Completionofallannualcompetencyverificationrequirements.
