Job Title: RN Med-Surg Stepdown
Location: Cincinnati, OH – 45219
Duration: 8 Weeks (Possible Extension)
Shift: 3×12 Nights | 36 Hours/Week
Pay Local: $50 – $55/hr – W2
Pay Travel: $1700 – $2000 Gross weekly
Job Summary:
We’re looking for a high-impact Registered Nurse (RN) to join a fast-paced Medical-Surgical Stepdown unit. This role is designed for clinicians who thrive in a dynamic, patient-centric environment and can seamlessly integrate clinical expertise with compassionate care delivery.
You’ll be responsible for delivering end-to-end patient care—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to drive optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to diverse patient populations
- Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Monitor cardiac patients and respond to acute changes
- Administer medications, therapies, and treatments as prescribed
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
- Educate patients and families on care plans and recovery
- Maintain compliance with ANA standards and Ohio Nurse Practice Act
- Uphold strict confidentiality and professional ethics
Required Qualifications:
- Active RN License (Ohio or Compact)
- BLS /ACLS Certification (Required)
- Minimum 1+ year of Stepdown or Telemetry experience
- Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
- Ability to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
- Leadership experience (Charge RN / Preceptor)
Unit Overview – 3 South (Med-Surg Stepdown):
- 29-bed stepdown unit with a strong cardiac focus
- Patient population includes:
- Acute MI
- Cardiac arrhythmias
- Cardiomyopathy
- CHF
- Low-risk chest pain
- Additional exposure across specialties: cardiology, renal, endocrinology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, oncology
- Cardiac monitoring and telemetry-driven care environment
- Dedicated Stroke Unit – all RNs NIH Stroke Scale certified
- Advanced clinical exposure includes:
- Non-invasive ventilation (BiPAP, CPAP, APAP)
- Infusion therapy, transfusions, injections
- Central line care
- Supported by Patient Care Assistants (ADLs, glucose checks, 12-lead EKGs)
