Technical Services Technician I

Pay: $31 hourly
Duration: 3 months, possibility of extension

Job Description:
Duties

  • Serve as the first point of contact for end users seeking technical assistance.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues by researching, resolving, and documenting service requests from customers.
  • Identify issues requiring escalation and work closely with appropriate parties to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Respond to service requests (e.g., new software requests, hardware installations) and trouble tickets (e.g., issues with PCs, laptops, laser printers, network access, and email access) in accordance with service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Fulfill service requests and document problems and resolutions in the problem management system.
  • Provide a high level of support and availability for business-related hardware and software applications.
  • Perform hardware repairs and services, and assist users with proper maintenance and operating standards for hardware equipment.
  • Maintain inventory records of hardware and software purchases.
  • Monitor routine maintenance programs for computer peripherals to ensure clean and orderly environments.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills

  • Knowledge of personal computer hardware and software, including Windows and Macintosh platforms, and modern communication systems.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and manage a variety of concrete variables where limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Education

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move throughout the building regularly, and sit while using a computer for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents.
  • Sufficient near vision to read information on computer screens, handwritten forms, and printed documents.
  • Adequate hearing and verbal communication skills for in-person and telephone interactions.
  • Ability to climb a 12-foot ladder.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
