Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Location: Charlotte, NC
Duration: 3-Month Contract
Pay Rate: $19.93 – $21.35/hour
Schedule: 30 hours/week | Weekdays
Shift: Mon – Fri | 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Job Summary:
- The Phlebotomist II serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional patient care while collecting high-quality blood specimens for laboratory testing. This role requires strong phlebotomy expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and safety. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment and interacting with patients of all ages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections on pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Collect and process clinical and forensic specimens according to established procedures and quality standards.
- Verify patient identity and demographic information before specimen collection.
- Ensure specimens are accurately labeled in the patient's presence and obtain patient verification when required.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing and maintain specimen integrity throughout the collection process.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and patient information in accordance with company policies.
- Follow all safety, infection control, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Create a professional and welcoming environment that promotes patient trust and confidence.
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills when interacting with patients, clients, and healthcare staff.
- Work independently while meeting daily productivity and quality expectations.
- Support multiple collection sites as needed and travel between locations when required.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, dress code, and safety standards.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience, including:
- Pediatric collections
- Geriatric collections
- Capillary collections
- Strong specimen collection, processing, and labeling skills.
- Keyboarding and data entry experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of Patient Service Center (PSC) experience preferred.
- Previous customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- Flexible schedule to support staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call coverage when required.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license if travel between locations is required.
- Ability to cover Patient Service Centers and physician office locations with minimal notice.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to make decisions based on established procedures.
- Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and organizational excellence.
