Job Title: Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician
Job Location: Frederick, MD 21704 (Onsite)
Job Duration: 3 Months Contract (High possibility of temp to hire)
Pay Rate: $25.00 – $31.00/Hour on W2
Job Summary:
- To provide facilities related mechanical, utility, and mission-critical infrastructure services for a complex biotech manufacturing, distribution, R&D, and data center site including equipment and facility installation, repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance.
- The Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician executes skilled and advanced maintenance work on building, utility, and mission-critical IT support systems, contributes to GMP documentation, responds to critical alarms, and supports the Lead Facilities Maintenance Technician with technical execution and mentorship of lower-level personnel.
Key Objectives of the role:
- Develop and maintain a complete working knowledge of all infrastructure systems and operations at the facility.
- Respond to site infrastructure, utility, and IT mission-critical equipment alarms and execute repair and mitigation activities.
- Ensure that the critical environment is restored to its original maintenance condition following repairs or interventions.
- Support site customer infrastructure facility needs to ensure continuous operations.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting on HVAC, boilers, pure steam generators, autoclaves, glassware washers, lab washers, RODI, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and pneumatic systems.
- Operate and support mission-critical IT data center infrastructure including Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) units, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), battery strings; escalate complex events to the Lead Facilities Maintenance Technician.
- Complete preventative maintenance on equipment and building systems as established in department procedures.
- Available for emergency on-call rotation.
- Provide guidance, training, and on-the-job coaching to lower-level personnel.
- Author and revise Preventive Maintenance procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), job plans, and work instructions.
- Contribute to GMP quality records including Change Controls, Deviations or Problem Reports, CAPAs, and Methods of Procedure (MOPs); author independently when assigned.
- Complete work order documentation in accordance with Good Documentation Practice (GDP) and ALCOA+ data integrity principles.
- Maintain accurate records of building operations, repairs, parts, equipment condition, and PM activities within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Use the site Building Management System (Client) to monitor alarms, review trends, and support troubleshooting.
- Monitor critical plant systems through rounds, meter readings, Client trend reviews, and field inspections.
- Perform and record daily meter readings and identify adverse trends for escalation.
- Coordinate planned work in data center and server room spaces with site IT and adhere to mission-critical change control procedures.
- Support commissioning and qualification (IQ, OQ, PQ) of new and modified utility and facility systems as assigned.
- Support internal and external audits and regulatory inspections by producing requested records and answering subject matter questions within Product.
- Comply with all site EH&S requirements, including Lockout/Tagout, confined space, hot work, electrical safety, fall protection, refrigerant handling, and chemical safety.
- Identify recurring failures and reliability opportunities; recommend improvements to the Lead Facilities Maintenance Technician and Facility Manager.
- Ensure continuous operations of the site HVAC, utility, and mission-critical IT support systems.
- May perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (must have):
Experience/Requirements:
- Must have at least 6-8 years of related facilities or utilities maintenance experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a GMP-regulated biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences manufacturing site.
- Must have a proven working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration equipment and systems.
- Must have a working knowledge of IT data center and mission-critical systems including CRAC units, and UPS systems.
- Must comply with FDA, EH&S, cGMP, and ISO regulations.
- Must have advanced troubleshooting skills.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of the site Building Management System (Client) and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Must have experience contributing to GMP documentation, including Preventive Maintenance procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, and work order records compliant with Good Documentation Practice (GDP).
- Must have experience supporting emergency response, critical system recovery, and after-hours or on-call maintenance response.
Education:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred certification in multiple relevant mechanical and/or electrical trades.
- Preferred current EPA Section 608 Universal CFC certification.
- Preferred current OSHA 10-hour General Industry certification.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Maryland Stationary Engineer license (any grade) strongly preferred.
- OSHA 30-hour General Industry certification.
- Hands-on experience with Blue Mountain RAM (Regulatory Asset Manager) or equivalent validated GMP CMMS.
- Hands-on experience with Client Desigo Insight, Client Desigo CC, Johnson Controls Metasys, Client, or equivalent Client platforms.
- Boiler operator license (High or Low Pressure).
- Ability to develop reliability reports to assist in identifying areas of concern that could develop into future problems.
