Title: Phlebotomist III – Floater
Location: Midlothian, VA 23113
Duration: 3+ Months (possible Extension)
Shift: Between 7 am to 7 pm with Rot Sat.

Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative III (PSR III) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, delivering exceptional customer service while performing skilled phlebotomy and specimen collection procedures. This role is responsible for collecting, labeling, processing, and preparing clinical and forensic specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The PSR III ensures patient confidentiality, specimen integrity, accurate documentation, and a positive patient experience across multiple healthcare settings, including Patient Service Centers (PSC), physician offices, and mobile collection sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture, capillary, pediatric, geriatric, and routine blood specimen collections with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Process, label, prepare, and transport specimens for laboratory testing following quality assurance and safety standards.
  • Verify patient identity, demographic information, and specimen labeling accuracy prior to and after collection.
  • Obtain patient signatures and ensure specimens are labeled in the patient's presence.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, patient confidentiality, infection control, and laboratory regulations.
  • Accurately complete documentation, data entry, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care by explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and creating a welcoming environment.
  • Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and process excellence in all patient interactions.
  • Support multiple collection sites, including Patient Service Centers, physician offices, and mobile locations as business needs require.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare providers, supervisors, and laboratory personnel.
  • Adapt to changing priorities, staffing needs, and operational requirements.
  • Work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call assignments when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including:
    • Venipuncture
    • Capillary collections
    • Pediatric collections
    • Geriatric collections
  • Strong specimen collection, specimen processing, and laboratory support experience.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Proficient in data entry, documentation, and computer systems.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license (if required).
  • Willingness to travel between multiple work locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or other allied health training.
  • Phlebotomy Certification (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
  • 2+ years of Patient Service Center (PSC) experience.
  • Customer service experience in healthcare, retail, or service environments.
  • Experience working in high-volume healthcare or laboratory settings.
