Day-to-Day Responsibilities / Workload
The Senior Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated project schedules using Primavera P6. This role requires advanced hands-on scheduling expertise, supporting complex utility transmission and substation programs, and providing clear, data-driven insights to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain integrated master schedules (IMS) in Primavera P6
- Build schedules from scratch based on Product, engineering, and construction inputs
- Perform critical path analysis, schedule risk assessment, and forecasting
- Conduct time impact analysis (TIA) and evaluate schedule changes
- Manage schedule baselines, updates, and variance analysis
- Support earned value management (EVM) and progress reporting
- Prepare and present monthly schedule reports, including delays, risks, and recovery plans
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineering, and Construction teams for schedule alignment
- Identify schedule risks and recommend mitigation strategies
- Ensure adherence to project controls standards and governance
Required Skills / Attributes
- Advanced to expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6 (non-negotiable)
- Experience in Engineering, construction, utility, substation or transmission projects
- Proven experience developing and managing complex, multi-disciplinary project schedules
- Strong expertise in:
- Critical path method (CPM)
- Schedule logic and sequencing
- Time impact analysis (TIA)
- Baseline and variance analysis
- Ability to clearly communicate schedule risks, delays, and mitigation actions
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams (engineering, construction, PMO)
- Excellent structured communication and presentation skills
- Minimum 5-7 years hands-on P6 scheduling experience managing complex programs/portfolios
- Emphasize: Hands-on builder not just reviewer
Desired Skills / Attributes
- Knowledge of earned value management (EVM) and cost integration
- Ability to leverage automation or data tools (Power BI, Excel analytics, AI-assisted reporting)
- Strong understanding of project controls frameworks and lifecycle management
