Job Summary
- The Phlebotomist II (Patient Services Representative II) serves as the face of the organization by providing exceptional patient care and high-quality specimen collection services. This role involves drawing blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality throughout the process.
- The ideal candidate will have strong phlebotomy experience, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on paediatric, geriatric, and adult patients.
- Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures.
- Verify patient demographics and ensure proper specimen labelling in the presence of the patient.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Follow all safety, compliance, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Deliver excellent customer service while creating a professional and welcoming environment.
- Support both forensic and clinical specimen collection procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Travel to multiple patient service centres or office locations as needed.
- Adapt to flexible scheduling, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call coverage when required.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience required.
- Experience with paediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections required.
- Strong data entry and keyboarding skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license, if applicable.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a Patient Service Centre environment preferred.
- Prior customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service setting preferred.
