Position Overview
The Nutrition for Precision Health Clinical Center is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to support clinical research activities involving timed meal tests and repeated blood collection procedures.
The ideal candidate will have strong IV placement skills, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to follow detailed research protocols while providing exceptional participant care.
Required Qualifications
- Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Proficiency in IV catheter insertion and management
- Experience with repeated blood collection through IV access
- Strong clinical judgment and patient assessment skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent computer and documentation skills
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Comfortable interacting with employees and stakeholders at all organizational levels
- Self-motivated, proactive, and team-oriented
- Ability to follow standardized procedures and research protocols
Preferred Qualifications
- Phlebotomy experience
- Previous clinical research experience
Key Responsibilities
- Place and manage IV catheters for repeated blood sample collection
- Collect blood samples according to strict study timelines (within a 3–5 minute collection window)
- Follow study protocols and ensure compliance with research requirements
- Accurately document blood collection times and participant information
- Label specimens and coordinate sample delivery to the onsite laboratory
- Enter visit details and data into the study management system
- Assess and document study-related symptoms such as headaches, nausea, and other participant concerns
- Utilize clinical judgment to evaluate potential medical events and participant safety concerns, including blood sugar and blood pressure monitoring
- Collaborate with research assistants and study staff to ensure successful completion of study visits
- Complete all required study-specific training before interacting with participants
