Job Description: Phlebotomist I (Patient Services Representative I)

Location: Crestview, FL
Duration: 3+ Months (Possibility of Extension)

Shift Timings:

  • Training Period: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Post-Training Schedule:
    • Wednesday – Friday: 5:00 AM – 4:00 PM
    • Saturday: 6:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Job Summary

The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, representing the organization with professionalism and compassion. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing samples for testing, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the process.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to confidentiality while fostering a positive and trustworthy patient experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepare and label specimens according to established protocols.
  • Ensure all specimens are handled, processed, and stored correctly for laboratory testing.
  • Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients, ensuring comfort and confidence.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and patient data entry.
  • Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection following required procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
  • Adhere to company standards for quality, compliance, and confidentiality.
  • Work independently under the direction of the area supervisor to meet daily goals.
  • Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, and the public.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in handling pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Basic computer skills with keyboard/data entry experience.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (Preferred)
  • Phlebotomy Certification (Preferred; required in CA, NV, WA)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience (Required)
  • 1+ years of phlebotomy experience (Preferred)
  • Experience in customer service or patient-facing roles (Preferred)
  • Prior experience with data entry and documentation (Required)
