Job Summary:
- We are seeking a Phlebotomist I to join our team in Long Beach, CA. The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization by providing exceptional patient care while performing specimen collection and processing. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring a safe, accurate, and positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Prepare, label, process, and package specimens for laboratory testing according to established procedures.
- Verify patient identity and explain collection procedures to ensure patient comfort and confidence.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure specimen integrity throughout the collection process.
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection following company policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Protect patient confidentiality, comply with HIPAA, and company policies.
- Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to quality and process excellence.
- Complete assigned duties accurately and within established turnaround times.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Basic computer and keyboard/data entry proficiency.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts as needed.
- California Phlebotomy Certification (Required).
Preferred:
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training.
- Previous customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment.
- Prior laboratory or specimen processing experience.
