- Weekdays: 6:30 AM – 3:30 PM
- Saturday: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Phlebotomist I to join our team in Mount Dora, FL. The Phlebotomist I serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional patient care while collecting high-quality blood specimens for laboratory testing. This role requires strong phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to create a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens from patients using established venipuncture and capillary collection techniques.
- Prepare and process specimens accurately for laboratory testing according to established procedures.
- Verify patient information and maintain specimen integrity throughout the collection process.
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and confidentiality standards.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and data entry related to patient and specimen information.
- Create a welcoming and professional environment for patients while explaining procedures clearly and effectively.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and support process excellence initiatives.
- Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
- Work independently under the direction of the area supervisor while completing daily activities accurately and on time.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Keyboarding and data entry experience required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to deliver accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or other medical training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
- One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail, healthcare, or service environment preferred.
