Job Description: Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I)
Location: Merritt Island, FL
Duration: 4+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift Timing:
- Monday – Thursday: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM (EST)
- Every Saturday: 6:30 AM – 12:30 PM (EST)
Position Overview
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) – Phlebotomist serves as the face of the organization, interacting directly with patients who visit for routine health checks or critical diagnostic services. This role is responsible for performing high-quality specimen collection, particularly blood draws, while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise in phlebotomy, strong customer service skills, and a commitment to delivering accurate and timely results in a professional healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform blood collection (venipuncture and capillary) in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner.
- Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures.
- Ensure proper patient identification, labeling, and documentation to maintain accuracy.
- Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients to build trust and confidence.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional working environment.
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties.
- Record and maintain required patient data and documentation accurately.
- Work independently while meeting productivity, quality, and turnaround expectations.
- Demonstrate strong organizational commitment and represent the company positively to patients, clients, and the public.
- Adhere strictly to confidentiality standards and HIPAA regulations.
- Support leadership behaviors and process excellence initiatives.
Job Requirements

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen handling and documentation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills including:
- Pediatric collections
- Geriatric collections
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts as required.
Required Qualifications

Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (Preferred)
- Phlebotomy Certification (Preferred; required in some states)

Experience:
- Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience (Required)
- 1+ year of phlebotomy experience (Preferred)
- Prior customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment (Preferred)
- Strong keyboard and data entry skills (Required)
