Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Location: Alameda, CA, US
Duration: 6-Month Contract (Possible Extension)
Pay Rate: $22.90 – $28.30/hour
Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with rotating Saturdays (Pacific Time)
Job Summary
- The Phlebotomist I (Patient Services Representative I) serves as the face of the organization for patients visiting the facility. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring a positive patient experience through professional, compassionate, and accurate service.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and specimen collection following established procedures and protocols.
- Process and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
- Verify patient information and maintain accurate documentation.
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and confidentiality standards.
- Provide excellent customer service while creating a comfortable and professional patient experience.
- Complete assigned daily activities accurately and within required timeframes.
- Promote a positive image of the organization with patients, clients, and colleagues.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience.
- Strong blood draw and specimen collection skills.
- Experience with data entry and basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of phlebotomy experience.
- Experience drawing blood from paediatric and geriatric patients.
- Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or related medical training.
- Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service setting.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
