The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, delivering professional and compassionate service during routine health visits and important medical decisions. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring all procedures are completed safely, accurately, and in compliance with established protocols.
The PSR I interacts directly with patients to create a positive, respectful, and trustworthy experience while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of patient information. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily specimen collection and processing activities accurately and within established timelines.
- Collect blood samples using proper phlebotomy techniques for patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
- Prepare and process clinical and forensic specimens according to standard operating procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation, records, and patient information.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and confidentiality standards.
- Provide excellent customer service while fostering a professional and welcoming environment.
- Work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
- Demonstrate adaptability to changing staffing and scheduling needs, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call assignments.
- Promote a positive company image with patients, clients, coworkers, and the public.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience required.
- Strong data entry and keyboarding skills required.
- Ability to deliver accurate, error-free work in a high-volume environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
- 1+ years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Prior customer service experience in a retail, healthcare, or service environment preferred.
