Job Summary

  • The Phlebotomist II (Patient Services Representative II) serves as the face of the organization by providing exceptional patient care and high-quality specimen collection services. This role involves drawing blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality throughout the process.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong phlebotomy experience, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on paediatric, geriatric, and adult patients.
  • Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures.
  • Verify patient demographics and ensure proper specimen labelling in the presence of the patient.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Follow all safety, compliance, and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while creating a professional and welcoming environment.
  • Support both forensic and clinical specimen collection procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Travel to multiple patient service centres or office locations as needed.
  • Adapt to flexible scheduling, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call coverage when required.

 
Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience required.
  • Experience with paediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections required.
  • Strong data entry and keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license, if applicable.

 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
  • Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Patient Service Centre environment preferred.
  • Prior customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service setting preferred.
