Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Clerk
Location: Grand Rapids, MI 49503
Duration: 03 Months (Contract)
Shift: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Monday – Friday
Position Summary
- Our Client Is Seeking a Shipping & Receiving Clerk responsible for the receipt, inspection, storage, shipping, and distribution of materials within the facility.
- This role supports warehouse operations by ensuring accurate inventory management, proper documentation, and timely movement of materials while maintaining compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, verify, and process incoming materials and shipments.
- Enter receipts and inventory transactions into the Materials Management system.
- Route materials to appropriate departments and off-site locations.
- Prepare outbound shipments and associated shipping documentation.
- Manage returned goods in accordance with company SOPs.
- Store inventory in designated warehouse locations and maintain proper stock rotation based on receipt and expiration dates.
- Identify and report inventory discrepancies, damaged goods, or short-dated materials.
- Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
- Support order entry, picking, packing, and delivery operations.
- Assist with mail distribution and record storage/retrieval processes as needed.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including OSHA, CLIA, safety, and compliance requirements.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance warehouse efficiency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 6 months of materials management, warehouse, shipping/receiving, or inventory experience.
- Basic data entry experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Experience using computers and inventory systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (training/certification may be required).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Inventory control and stock management experience.
- Shipping and receiving documentation experience.
- Experience with barcode scanners and warehouse management systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
