Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and patient-focused Phlebotomist I to join our team in Kissimmee, FL. The Phlebotomist I serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional service to patients while performing blood collection and specimen processing duties. This role requires a strong commitment to quality, accuracy, patient care, and adherence to established procedures and confidentiality standards.
The successful candidate will collect blood specimens safely and efficiently, prepare samples for laboratory testing, maintain accurate documentation, and deliver a positive patient experience. This position involves direct patient interaction and requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures on patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
- Collect, label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure accurate patient identification and maintain specimen integrity throughout the collection process.
- Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients, creating a comfortable and professional environment.
- Maintain required records, logs, and documentation with a high degree of accuracy.
- Adhere to safety, infection control, and confidentiality guidelines at all times.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and uphold a positive image with patients, clients, coworkers, and the public.
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing responsibilities as required.
- Complete daily activities accurately and within established timelines under the direction of the area supervisor.
- Support process excellence initiatives and maintain quality standards.
Required Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (Preferred)
- Phlebotomy Certification (Preferred; required in certain states such as California, Nevada, and Washington)
Experience
- Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience required
- 1+ year of phlebotomy experience preferred
- Experience working in a customer service, retail, or healthcare service environment preferred
- Keyboard and data entry experience required
