Medical Laboratory Scientist

Title: Medical Lab Technician/ Technologist
Duration: 3+ Months (Possible Extension/ Temp to Hire)
Location: Irving, TX, 75063

2nd shift: Sunday- Thursday, 3 pm-1:30pm
Job Summary

Detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technologist/Technician with experience performing high-complexity clinical laboratory testing, specimen analysis, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. Skilled in laboratory operations, result validation, quality control (QC), quality assurance (QA), instrument calibration, and maintaining compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety standards. Proficient in multiple laboratory information systems (LIS), data management, and delivering accurate, timely diagnostic results while ensuring patient confidentiality and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform specimen receipt, handling, processing, testing, analysis, and reporting according to established laboratory procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct clinical laboratory testing using approved methodologies and validated testing systems.
  • Review, verify, and release patient test results while ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain complete and accurate laboratory records, documentation, and testing logs.
  • Perform proficiency testing and ensure samples are processed using the same procedures applied to patient specimens.
  • Monitor, document, and evaluate quality control (QC) activities, quality assurance (QA) programs, instrument calibration, and preventive maintenance.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve laboratory testing issues; escalate complex concerns to senior technologists or supervisors as required.
  • Document corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) when testing systems deviate from established performance standards.
  • Report STAT and critical laboratory results according to departmental protocols.
  • Verify reagent and test kit integrity, including receipt dates, expiration dates, and open dates when applicable.
  • Participate in laboratory inspections, audits, accreditation reviews, and regulatory assessments.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through training, competency assessments, and implementation of new procedures.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, laboratory personnel, and clients to ensure high-quality service and effective communication.
  • Ensure compliance with patient privacy, confidentiality, and data protection requirements.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Medical Technology preferred; or
  • BS/BA in Biology, Chemistry, or related Life Sciences field; or
  • Associate Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
  • Eligibility for or possession of national certification such as MT/MLT through ASCP or AMT preferred.
  • Foreign-educated candidates should possess credential evaluation from IERF or equivalent recognized agency.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Experience performing high-complexity laboratory testing strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of laboratory regulations, quality systems, and accreditation requirements.
  • State licensure and certifications as required by applicable regulations.
