Shift: Monday – Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II to join our team in Angleton, TX. The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the organization, delivering exceptional patient care while performing high-quality blood specimen collections and processing. This role requires strong phlebotomy expertise, attention to detail, patient-focused communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary, pediatric, geriatric, forensic, and clinical specimen collections following established procedures and protocols.
- Accurately collect, label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
- Verify patient identity and demographic information prior to collection.
- Obtain patient signatures and confirm specimen labels are accurate and applied in the patient’s presence.
- Maintain required documentation, records, and specimen tracking information.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, confidentiality, and regulatory standards.
- Create a welcoming and professional environment that promotes patient confidence and trust.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and a commitment to process excellence.
- Maintain a positive image of the organization with patients, clients, employees, and the public.
- Support multiple Patient Service Centers (PSC) and In-Office Phlebotomy locations as needed.
- Perform daily activities accurately and within established turnaround times under the direction of the Area Supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience, including:
- Pediatric collections
- Geriatric collections
- Capillary collections
- Strong specimen collection and processing skills.
- Excellent customer service and patient interaction abilities.
- Keyboard and data entry proficiency.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
- 2+ years of experience in a Patient Service Center (PSC) environment.
- Customer service experience in a retail, healthcare, or service-oriented setting.
Additional Requirements
- Flexible schedule to accommodate staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, and overtime when required.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record if applicable.
- Ability to travel and provide coverage at multiple locations with minimal notice.
- Strong communication skills and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
