Shift: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM; Every Saturday, 5:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Phlebotomist I to join our team in Miami, FL. The Phlebotomist I serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional patient care while collecting high-quality blood specimens for laboratory testing. This role requires strong phlebotomy skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
The ideal candidate will create a positive patient experience by demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and accuracy while ensuring compliance with established procedures, quality standards, and confidentiality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens from patients using established venipuncture and capillary collection techniques.
- Prepare, label, and process specimens for laboratory testing according to company protocols.
- Accurately perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties.
- Verify patient information and maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Explain collection procedures to patients and address questions to ensure comfort and confidence.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and confidentiality guidelines.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
- Perform daily activities accurately and within established turnaround times under the direction of the area supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
- Proven ability to provide high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong data entry and keyboarding skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or other related medical training.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in CA, NV, and WA).
- One or more years of phlebotomy experience.
- Experience drawing blood from pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment.
