Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Location: Riverview, FL
Duration: 3+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM, with rotating Saturdays (every 3rd Saturday)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Phlebotomist I to join our healthcare team in Riverview, FL. The Phlebotomist I serves as the face of the organization, interacting directly with patients and providing exceptional specimen collection services. This role is responsible for collecting blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring a safe, accurate, and professional patient experience.

The ideal candidate will possess strong phlebotomy skills, excellent customer service abilities, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and specimen integrity while working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect quality blood specimens from patients using established venipuncture and capillary collection procedures.
  • Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing according to standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure accurate patient identification and proper labeling of specimens.
  • Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties with confidence and accuracy.
  • Maintain required records, documentation, and patient information while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Provide clear explanations of collection procedures to patients and help create a comfortable and trusting environment.
  • Adhere to safety, compliance, and infection control protocols at all times.
  • Complete daily activities accurately and within established timelines under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required.
  • Strong keyboard and data entry skills required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to provide high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant, Paramedic, or related medical training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
  • One (1) or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Experience performing pediatric and geriatric blood draws preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience in a retail, healthcare, or service environment preferred.
