Job Summary:
- We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II / Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) to join our team in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate will have strong phlebotomy skills, excellent patient service abilities, and experience working in a fast-paced clinical or patient service environment.
- The Phlebotomist II is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, verifying patient information, and ensuring all collection and processing procedures are completed accurately and safely.
- The role involves direct patient interaction and requires a professional, compassionate approach that creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture, Pediatric, geriatric, and capillary blood collections accurately and safely.
- Collect and process both clinical and forensic specimens according to established procedures.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing while maintaining specimen integrity.
- Verify patient identification, demographic information, and specimen labels.
- Obtain patient initials/signatures following venipuncture to verify that tubes were properly labelled in the patient’s presence.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and collection information.
- Follow established safety, infection control, confidentiality, and quality procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a professional, positive image with patients, clients, employees, and the public.
- Work independently with minimal onsite supervision while meeting productivity and quality expectations.
- Handle multiple priorities effectively in a high-volume environment.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Support multiple Patient Service Center (PSC) and in-office phlebotomy locations as business needs require.
- Travel between locations and provide coverage with minimal notice when required.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, dress code, Employee Health & Safety requirements, and workplace standards.
- Demonstrate adaptability, strong communication, and a commitment to continuous process improvement.
- Complete required training at designated training locations based on trainer availability.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent – Required
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience – Required
- Experience with Pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections – Required
- Strong venipuncture and specimen collection skills.
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent patient/customer service skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Basic keyboard and data entry skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on established procedures.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if applicable.
- Ability to travel between multiple work locations as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training
- Phlebotomy certification
- Previous experience in a retail, healthcare, or customer-service environment
- Experience with specimen processing and laboratory documentation
