Job Summary:
- We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II / Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) to provide professional and high-quality specimen collection services. The PSR II serves as the primary point of contact for patients, creating a comfortable and trustworthy environment while collecting blood specimens safely, accurately, and efficiently.
- The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including Pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections, along with strong patient service and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and blood specimen collection safely, accurately, and efficiently.
- Collect specimens from adult, Pediatric, and geriatric patients, including capillary collections.
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing according to established procedures.
- Explain collection procedures to patients and create a professional, comfortable patient experience.
- Verify patient demographic information and required initials/signatures.
- Confirm specimen labels are accurate and applied in the patient’s presence.
- Prepare, process, and handle specimens according to established laboratory procedures.
- Maintain accurate patient records and required documentation.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and confidentiality standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, clients, coworkers, and the public.
- Work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
- Work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
- Travel between Patient Service Centers and physician-office locations as business needs require.
- Support staffing requirements, including rotational Saturdays, holidays, on-call coverage, overtime, and multiple locations, as needed.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to make decisions based on established procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience required.
- Experience with:
- Pediatric patients
- Geriatric patients
- Capillary collections
- Venipuncture
- Strong specimen collection and processing skills.
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and patient service skills.
- Keyboarding and data-entry experience.
