Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery
Location: Oakland, CA
Duration: 13 Weeks contract
Shift: 12-hour shifts | 3 shifts/week | 36 hours/week
Shifts Available: Day & Night
Local W2: $3,528/week
Travel W2: $3,750/week gross, including applicable stipend for eligible candidates.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery to provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. The RN will work closely with physicians, midwives, and the multidisciplinary care team to ensure safe, high-quality care for both mothers and newborns.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
- Perform comprehensive maternal assessments and monitor maternal and fetal well-being.
- Monitor and interpret electronic fetal heart rate patterns and promptly recognize changes requiring intervention.
- Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries and provide support during various stages of labor.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and other treatments according to physician orders and hospital protocols.
- Monitor patients receiving labor induction/augmentation, including Pitocin, as applicable.
- Provide care for patients receiving epidural or other pain-management interventions.
- Identify and respond appropriately to maternal and fetal complications or emergencies.
- Provide immediate postpartum care, including monitoring vital signs, bleeding, pain, and recovery.
- Assist with newborn care and support mother-baby bonding and breastfeeding.
- Educate patients and families regarding labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and newborn care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, anesthesia, NICU, and other members of the healthcare team.
Required Qualifications
- Active CA Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- BLS certification.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
- Fetal Monitoring certification.
- Previous Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred/required based on facility requirements.
- Strong knowledge of maternal-fetal assessment, fetal monitoring, and labor management.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
