Job Summary:
- We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II / Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) to support patient specimen collection and processing. The ideal candidate will have strong venipuncture skills, excellent patient-service abilities, and experience working with Pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- The Phlebotomist II serves as a key point of contact for patients and is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, accurately processing and labeling samples, maintaining documentation, and ensuring a safe, professional, and patient-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and blood specimen collection accurately and safely.
- Collect and process clinical and forensic specimens according to established procedures.
- Perform Pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain required signatures/initials following specimen collection.
- Ensure specimens are properly labelled in the patient’s presence and verify accuracy of patient information.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing and ensure proper handling and processing.
- Maintain accurate records and required documentation.
- Provide professional, courteous, and compassionate service to patients.
- Explain collection procedures clearly and help create an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and confidentiality standards.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail and process excellence in a high-volume environment.
- Work independently with minimal onsite supervision.
- Support multiple patient service centers and/or in-office phlebotomy locations as business needs require.
- Travel between locations and work flexible hours when needed, including occasional weekends, holidays, on-call coverage, and overtime.
- Maintain a positive and professional image when interacting with patients, clients, coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
- Demonstrate strong customer service, communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience required.
- Experience with Pediatric, geriatric, and capillary blood collections.
- Strong venipuncture and specimen collection skills.
- Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and patient-service skills.
- Keyboarding and data-entry experience.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and accurately handle sensitive information.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record, when applicable.
- Flexibility to travel between multiple work locations as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
- 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment highly preferred.
