Job Summary
The Pathologists’ Assistant is a trained allied health professional who provides anatomic pathology services under the direction and supervision of a pathologist.
The position primarily performs routine gross examination of surgical pathology specimens and assists with autopsies and case conferences, contributing to the overall efficiency of the laboratory.
Key Responsibilities

Perform routine gross examination of surgical pathology specimens under pathologist supervision.

Assist with autopsy procedures and preparations.

Support preparation and coordination of case conferences.

Follow laboratory procedures and applicable quality and safety standards.

Work collaboratively with pathologists and laboratory staff to support efficient pathology operations.
Required Education
Option 1:
-
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.

Successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program within the last 5 years.
OR
Option 2:
-
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.

Minimum 20 semester hours (30 quarter hours) of Biology.

3 years of full-time acceptable Pathologists’ Assistant experience within the last 10 years, under the supervision of a pathologist certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology.
Required Certification & Licensure

Pathologists’ Assistant (ASCP) certification.
