Job Title: Specimen Technician/ Lab Assistant
Location: Chantilly, VA
Duration: 3+ Months (Possibility of Extension/ Temp to Hire)
Shift: Sun-Thurs, 1pm-930pm / Multiple 1st, 2nd & 3rd shift available
Pay Range: $21.91 to $24.10/hr on W2 (Varies according to shift)
Job Summary:
Responsible for general specimen processing functions, including data entry, presorting, A-station operations, centrifugation, aliquoting, imaging, and specimen pickup and delivery. Ensures accuracy, quality, and timely completion of tasks while meeting productivity standards and maintaining customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform specimen processing and data entry with a minimum speed of 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
- Identify specimen types and understand client test requirements.
- Follow laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and compliance regulations.
- Maintain quality, accuracy, productivity, and turnaround-time standards.
- Keep the work area clean and organized and communicate effectively with team members.
- Adapt to changing workloads and priorities.
- Be available for night shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call duties as required.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience & Skills:
- No prior experience required; laboratory or production experience preferred.
- Basic computer and data entry skills required.
- Medical terminology and clinical laboratory knowledge preferred.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and work safely in a biohazard environment
