Job Title: Respiratory Therapist
Location: Brockton, MA
Duration: 3 months Contract
Schedule: 7am-7:30pm 36-hours per week
Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Coordinator, Respiratory Care, and the clinical direction of the Medical Director, the Respiratory Therapist administers and monitors prescribed diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care procedures. This role assists patients with breathing techniques to improve oxygenation, promote secretion removal, and enhance overall respiratory status.

- Perform comprehensive respiratory assessments and provide prescribed therapies in a timely manner according to specialty and age-specific guidelines.
- Administer respiratory therapies in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.
- Evaluate patient responses to respiratory interventions and accurately document outcomes.
- Set up, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain mechanical ventilation systems.
- Communicate patient progress with physicians and nursing staff and recommend appropriate therapy modifications.
- Obtain, analyze, and document arterial blood gas (ABG) specimens according to departmental standards.
- Perform pulmonary function skin testing (as applicable), assess results, and report findings promptly.
- Clean, maintain, and document respiratory care equipment according to departmental standards.
Job Description:
- Monitor workflow, staffing, and equipment availability to support efficient department operations.
- Educate patients and families regarding respiratory treatments and disease management using age-appropriate teaching methods.
- Prioritize daily workload to ensure timely completion of assigned responsibilities.
- Escalate unusual patient care concerns or policy-related issues to the Senior Respiratory Therapist or Technical Coordinator.
- Serve as a resource for respiratory technicians and assume charge responsibilities when the Senior Therapist is unavailable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Ability to work independently while demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and flexibility.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Ability to interpret written instructions, policies, schedules, and clinical protocols.
- Ability to delegate responsibilities appropriately when required.
