Shift:
- Initial Training: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- After Training: Rotating shifts with advance notice:
- 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Required Experience
- Any amount of pharmacist experience accepted (candidates with no experience must be escalated).
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Senior-level computer skills.
Education
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited school.
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Valid Pharmacist License in the state of practice.
Job Responsibilities
Clinical Practice
- Provide appropriate drug therapy by thoroughly screening physician orders, accurately entering orders into the computer system, monitoring drug therapy, and recommending appropriate medication changes.
- Review patient charts and related information systems for diagnosis, drug history, allergies, body surface area (BSA), procedures, and complications.
- Follow up on omissions, discrepancies, and therapeutic duplications.
- Complete accurate computer profiles for each patient.
- Prioritize clinical responsibilities appropriately.
- Monitor patient laboratory and test results, recommend changes in drug therapy, and monitor cumulative doses for selective drugs.
- Document clinical interventions in the patient profile throughout the day.
- Apply knowledge of drug regimens and related disease states.
- Review new protocols within the assigned area as needed.
- Apply knowledge of investigational drug protocols as required.
- Participate in research projects when requested.
- Maintain and identify unused or missing doses and resolve discrepancies daily.
- Initiate practice regimens according to MSKCC guidelines (e.g., antiemetic, chemotherapy, epoetin alpha).
- Understand and apply the Investigational Drug Process as needed.
Order Processing
- Accurately screen and enter medication orders into patient profiles.
- Compound and dispense medications accurately.
- Complete patient profiles and labels with accurate patient information, medication details, IV fluid volumes (when applicable), special instructions, precautions, allergies, height, and weight.
Professional Development
Category I
- Acceptance as author or co-author for presentations at national, state, or local Pharmacy or Allied Health professional meetings.
- Acceptance for publication in pharmacy or allied health professional journals.
- Hold elected office in a professional healthcare association or organization.
- Serve as Co-Investigator in an IRB-approved protocol.
- Complete an ASHP Board Certified Specialty.
- Complete two graduate school courses meeting MSKCC tuition reimbursement criteria.
- Author an article for the Pharmacy Newsletter (FOCUS).
- Present at a Pharmacy Core Course.
Category II
- Deliver in-service presentations to pharmacy, nursing, or medical staff with written documentation.
- Complete one non-graduate school course meeting MSKCC tuition reimbursement criteria.
- Participate in an ongoing departmental committee or special project (minimum two meetings).
