Job Title: RN – Labor and Delivery
Location: May float between St. Joseph and Niles
Shift: Variable (7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
Weekend Rotation: Variable; fills staffing needs
On-Call: Not required
Scrub Color: Navy (provided by hospital)
Duties:
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care in accordance with ANA standards, hospital policies, and Michigan nursing regulations.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop nursing diagnoses, implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity and coordination of patient care.
- Advocate for patients and families while maintaining privacy, confidentiality, and ethical nursing practice.
- Provide patient and family education using appropriate teaching strategies and evaluate understanding.
- Initiate discharge planning and coordinate smooth transitions to the next level of care.
- Perform point-of-care testing and ensure accurate, timely clinical documentation.
- Delegate patient care responsibilities appropriately to unlicensed assistive personnel.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, professional development, and peer evaluations.
- Demonstrate leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving, and sound clinical judgment in a fast-paced Labor & Delivery environment.
- Maintain effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Manage multiple priorities while working efficiently under high-volume and time-sensitive conditions.
- Maintain proficiency with computer systems and electronic medical records.
Requirements:
- Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN required within employer-specified timeframe).
- Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- BLS, NRP, C-EFM (Fetal Heart Monitoring), STABLE.
