Shift: Tuesday – Saturday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Some Overtime Required)

Job Summary:
- We are seeking a Pre-Analytical Assistant I to support laboratory operations within the Technical Operations Department. This role is responsible for performing specimen processing and pre-analytical tasks to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient laboratory workflow. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform specimen sorting, racking, centrifugation, aliquoting, storage, and delivery to laboratory departments.
· Ensure proper specimen handling and processing according to laboratory procedures.
· Identify and resolve specimen issues, including incorrect specimen types, missing information, or labeling discrepancies.
· Research test order information using laboratory systems, translation tables, and service directories.
· Complete all required documentation accurately and within established timeframes.
· Meet departmental quality and productivity standards following completion of training.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following established workplace standards.
· Support laboratory workflow by learning additional functions within Technical Operations and Specimen Processing.
· Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure efficient operations.
· Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· Basic data entry and computer skills.
· Strong organizational and time management skills.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
· Good verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
· Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and operational needs.
· Commitment to quality, accuracy, and customer service.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Medical or laboratory background with knowledge of medical terminology.
· Previous experience in a production or laboratory environment.
· Familiarity with laboratory information systems or mainframe computer systems.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
· Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
· Ability to push or maneuver specimen carts and racks.
· Comfortable working in a biohazard laboratory environment while following all safety protocols.
