Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology/Hematology (Stepdown) to join a leading hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. The ideal candidate will have recent Stepdown experience and a current ONS/ONCC certification. In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing care to oncology and hematology patients, administer treatments, monitor patient conditions, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to oncology and hematology patients in a Stepdown unit.
- Assess, monitor, and document patient conditions and responses to treatment.
- Administer medications, chemotherapy-related treatments, IV infusions, and blood products as prescribed.
- Monitor vital signs and intervene appropriately when patient conditions change.
- Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to support staff while ensuring quality patient care.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Perform all duties in compliance with hospital policies and patient safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience.
- Recent Stepdown experience.
- ONS/ONCC Certification (Required).
- Strong knowledge of oncology/hematology nursing practices.
- Experience administering IV therapy and blood products.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Basic computer proficiency and electronic medical record (EMR) experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an acute care hospital Oncology/Hematology Stepdown unit.
- Experience caring for complex oncology patients.
