Shift: Central Time (Shift varies; start times between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM)
Job Summary:
- We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist III – Floater to join our team in the Kansas City, MO area. This role is responsible for performing high-quality specimen collection while providing exceptional patient care and customer service. The ideal candidate will be comfortable floating between multiple Patient Service Centers and physician offices as business needs require.
- The Phlebotomist III will collect blood specimens using established procedures, prepare samples for laboratory testing, verify patient information, and ensure all documentation is completed accurately while maintaining patient confidentiality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections on patients of all ages, including Pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Collect, label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures.
- Verify patient identity and demographic information before specimen collection.
- Obtain patient initials/signatures after venipuncture to confirm specimen labelling accuracy.
- Maintain accurate documentation and required records.
- Follow all safety, infection control, and quality assurance guidelines.
- Provide excellent customer service while creating a professional and comfortable patient experience.
- Work independently while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Float between multiple Patient Service Centers and physician offices as needed.
- Support forensic and clinical specimen collection when required.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, dress code, and confidentiality standards.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required where applicable by state regulations).
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
- Clean driving record, if applicable.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience.
- Experience with:
- Pediatric collections
- Geriatric collections
- Capillary collections
- Minimum 2 years of Patient Service Center (PSC) experience preferred.
- Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service environment preferred.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
