Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Location: San Jose, California 95134
Duration: 12 months W2 contract with high possibility of extension based on Performance depending on business needs
Pay Range: $65 to $70/Hour on W2
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team supporting complex scientific instrumentation. This role is focused on solving challenging electrical and electronic hardware issues that impact manufacturing, product quality, and field reliability. The ideal candidate is an expert troubleshooter who enProducts working at the component level to identify root causes, develop robust corrective actions, and partner with cross-functional engineering teams to implement permanent design improvements.
This position requires deep expertise in analog and digital electronics, PCBAs, low-voltage power supplies, RF electronics, and electromagnetic compatibility (EClient/EMI). Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, hands-on laboratory experience, and the ability to translate technical findings into manufacturing-ready solutions.
Keys to Success:
Lead root-cause investigations of complex electrical and electronic failures occurring during manufacturing, system integration, qualification testing, and field returns.
Diagnose failures involving analog circuits, digital electronics, embedded hardware, mixed-signal systems, low-voltage power supplies, RF circuits, and communication interfaces.
Analyze schematic designs, PCB layouts, component selections, and manufacturing processes to identify design weaknesses or latent reliability issues.
Develop permanent corrective actions and collaborate with R&D engineering to implement robust design improvements that can be released into production.
Evaluate EClient/EMI-related issues and recommend mitigation strategies through improved circuit design, grounding, shielding, filtering, and PCB layout techniques.
Partner closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Operations to drive timely issue resolution.
Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Test (DFT), Design for Serviceability, and Design for Reliability (DFR) initiatives.
Conduct engineering experiments, failure analysis, and statistical evaluations to validate hypotheses and corrective actions.
Develop detailed Work Instructions (WIs) for PCBA-level programming, FCT, sub-assembly, and High-Level Assembly (HLA) tests.
Review engineering change orders (ECOs), engineering documentation, and test procedures to ensure manufacturability and long-term product reliability.
Participating in sustaining and NPI activities.
Component obsolescence, EOL, alternative management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
2 years of experience in electrical hardware design, manufacturing engineering, sustaining engineering, product support, or failure analysis.
Experience
In-depth understanding of electronic modules and/or PCBA’s, involving analog and digital circuitry, electromagnetics, RF, and low voltage electronics
Ability to interpret schematics, PCB layouts, Gerber files, and engineering documentation.
Experience in high-volume and tight-schedule production environment
Experience with Ion Chromatography and/or Sample Preparation is a plus
Practical experience in solving production technical issues
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Strong hands-on experience debugging PCBAs at the component level.
Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills to find root cause and provide solution on electronic modules
Strong knowledge and understanding of analog and digital circuitry, electromagnetics, RF, and low voltage electronics
Proficiency in PCB CAD software
Proficiency in Labview or other general test SW development environments is a plus
Proficiency in using laboratory instrumentation includes oscilloProducts, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, function generators, network analyzers, thermal cameras, and precision measurement equipment.
Ability to plan, track and manage projects to cost and schedule Clients
Experience interacting with suppliers to ensure product conformance, cost effectiveness and outsourcing initiatives
Ability to comfortably work closely with production personnel, design engineers, or other manufacturing engineers during the problem-solving process
High attention to detail and organizational skills
Able to communicate clearly both in oral and presentation
