Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Coordinator/Manager/Director, the Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for cleaning, inspecting, assembling, packaging, disinfecting, and sterilizing surgical instruments and products used to support physicians and surgical teams across inpatient, outpatient, Operating Room, Emergency Room, Delivery Room, and satellite departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean, inspect, assemble, package, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
- Document and monitor sterilization processes, including steam, ETO, STERRAD, and high-level disinfection.
- Ensure all sterilization monitoring methods comply with applicable standards.
- Prepare procedure-specific case carts based on surgeon preference cards.
- Anticipate instrumentation, supplies, equipment, and implant needs for upcoming procedures.
- Receive, unpack, shelve, and stock supplies while maintaining appropriate par levels.
- Follow sterile supply management and inventory rotation practices.
- Coordinate with surgical specialty teams to ensure all required supplies and instruments are available when needed.
- Proactively prepare case carts according to each surgeon s preference card.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5β7 years of relevant experience preferred/required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to take direction and work effectively with patients and hospital personnel.
- Basic computer skills.
- Demonstrated customer service skills.
- Good attendance and reliability.
- BLS certification required.
- Professional certification required.
