Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM EST
Hours: 40 hours/week
Contract End Date: December 26, 2026
Experience Required: 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience

Job Summary

The Phlebotomist II / Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the organization to patients and is responsible for collecting high-quality blood and clinical specimens safely, accurately, and efficiently.

The role involves direct patient interaction, specimen collection and processing, patient identification and documentation, and maintaining a professional and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong phlebotomy skills, excellent customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume setting with minimal supervision.

The successful candidate may be assigned to a Patient Service Center, physician’s office, or other locations based on business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and specimen collection accurately, safely, and efficiently according to established procedures.
  • Perform pediatric, geriatric, capillary, clinical, and forensic specimen collections as required.
  • Verify patient demographic information and required initials before and after specimen collection.
  • Obtain patient signatures following venipuncture to confirm that specimens/tubes were properly labeled in the patient’s presence.
  • Ensure accurate specimen labeling, handling, preparation, and processing for laboratory testing.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records and documentation.
  • Follow established safety, infection control, confidentiality, and quality procedures.
  • Provide patients with clear explanations of collection procedures and create an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and promote a positive image with patients, clients, employees, and the public.
  • Complete daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
  • Handle multiple priorities effectively in a high-volume environment.
  • Work independently with minimal on-site supervision while exercising sound judgment.
  • Demonstrate strong customer focus and communicate openly and professionally with patients, peers, and supervisors.
  • Support multiple Patient Service Center and in-office phlebotomy locations as business needs require.
  • Travel between locations and provide coverage with minimal notice when necessary.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, including dress code, Employee Health & Safety requirements, and Everyday Excellence principles.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent – required.
  • 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience – required.
  • Experience with pediatric, geriatric, and capillary blood collections.
  • Strong venipuncture and specimen collection skills.
  • Ability to produce accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Keyboard and data-entry experience.
  • Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call assignments, and overtime based on staffing requirements.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record, when applicable.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between assigned locations as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
  • Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a retail, healthcare, or service environment highly preferred.
