Job Title: Phlebotomist II – Float
Location: Avon Park, FL
Duration: 6+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Hours vary Monday through Friday between 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Saturdays 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM as needed.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II – Float to join our team. This role serves as the face of the organization for patients seeking routine health screenings and diagnostic testing services. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent phlebotomy skills, provide outstanding customer service, and accurately collect and process specimens while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, safety, and confidentiality.

As a Float Phlebotomist, you will travel between multiple locations, adapting to changing business needs while ensuring seamless patient service and specimen collection operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect quality blood specimens from patients using established procedures and best practices.
• Perform venipuncture, capillary collections, and specimen processing for laboratory testing.
• Serve diverse patient populations, including pediatric, geriatric, and adult patients.
• Verify patient demographics and ensure specimen labeling accuracy in the patient’s presence.
• Obtain required patient signatures and maintain complete documentation.
• Process clinical and forensic specimens according to established protocols.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
• Deliver professional, compassionate, and efficient patient care while maintaining confidentiality.
• Promote a positive patient experience by explaining procedures and addressing patient concerns.
• Support operational excellence by adhering to quality, safety, and service standards.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
• Demonstrate flexibility by covering multiple Patient Service Centers and office locations as needed.
• Perform duties independently with minimal supervision while meeting productivity and quality expectations.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including:
  • Pediatric collections
  • Geriatric collections
  • Capillary collections
• Strong specimen collection, processing, and documentation skills.
• Keyboard and data entry experience.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel between multiple work locations with minimal notice.

Preferred Qualifications

• Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
• Two (2) years of Patient Service Center (PSC) experience preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service-oriented environment strongly preferred.

Float Position Details

• Travel between multiple sites is required.
• Must arrive on time and be prepared to work at any assigned location.
• Mileage reimbursement is available for eligible business-related travel between sites.
• Ability to cover Patient Service Centers and In-Office Phlebotomy locations with little advance notice.
