Title: Biologist – II
Location: South San Francisco ,CA
Duration: 6 months
Shift: Monday – Thursday, 12pm -10pm (10hr)
Pay rate: $39.46/hr. on w2
Education:

• Associate degree with 3+ years , or bachelor’s degree with 2 or more years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree with 1 year or more of relevant experience, in chemical biology, molecular and cellular biology, pharmacology, biology, or other relevant scientific discipline.
• Additional years of relevant industry experience are preferable but not required.

Experience and Skills:

• Experience in inflammation, metabolism, or a related field.
• Experience working with small laboratory animals, especially, rodents with hands-on experience in all types of in-vivo dosing (IP, IV, Oral etc.), bleeding, and handling techniques.
• Familiar with routine immunoassays (bead or plate based) as well as standard molecular biology techniques (western blotting, qPCR, etc…).
• Works independently and is able to simultaneously handle a diverse workload with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work flexibly in a dynamic team environment.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas: Client identification & validation, adipose, liver, or muscle biology, immunology in the context of insulin resistance.
• Evidence of scientific productivity based on publications and presentations.

Job Summary:

• The individual will perform experiments in the laboratory with minimal guidance and supervision in the design, execution, and interpretation of complex in vitro/in vivo/ex vivo studies to support Client identification, validation, and therapeutic development.
• The successful candidate will also possess a strong sense of intellectual curiosity to expand their technical expertise at the bench, as well as effective written and interpersonal communication skills to explain complex experiments and biological concepts to a broader scientific team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Solving complex problems by undertaking innovative approaches and applying state-of-the art technologies.
• In-vivo dosing, bleeding, and handling of rodents during a shifted workweek that includes the weekend.
• Ex-vivo sample processing and analysis.
• Scientific curiosity, analytical mindset with a drive to own a project to understand biology, mechanism of action and drive it through the discovery pipeline.
• Ability to work independently in executing tightly controlled experiments, analyzing data, and presenting to teams within the disease area.
• Effective communicator, having people skills and being able to work as a team player and working effectively in a matrixed environment.
• Design, perform, troubleshoot, document, analyze and interpret assigned research, with minimal supervision, to support exploratory activities as well as project focused goals.
• Scour and critically evaluate current literature to identify opportunities for new and existing programs.
• Establish key assays and model systems, suitable for the mechanistic investigation of potential Clients, as well as evaluation of therapeutic candidates.
• Effectively communicate data and findings to broad project teams.
