Job Summary:
- We are seeking an Entry Phlebotomist I (Lobby Experience Coordinator) to provide an exceptional patient experience while supporting daily laboratory operations. This role is primarily focused on welcoming patients, assisting with the check-in process, maintaining an organized lobby environment, and delivering outstanding customer service.
- In addition to front-desk responsibilities, the selected candidate will assist with specimen collection and processing by providing coverage during staff breaks and supporting the laboratory team as needed. This position is ideal for candidates with strong customer service skills who are looking to build their phlebotomy career in a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and provide a positive, professional first impression.
- Assist patients with check-in using self-service kiosks or handheld tablets.
- Answer patient questions with empathy, professionalism, and compassion.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming lobby environment.
- Support phlebotomy operations by covering staff breaks and assisting during staffing shortages.
- Perform venipuncture and specimen collection following established procedures.
- Process and label specimens accurately while maintaining specimen integrity.
- Verify patient information and maintain accurate documentation.
- Follow all safety, quality, confidentiality, and HIPAA guidelines.
- Maintain a professional work environment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, and coworkers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Phlebotomy Certificate (Required)
- Some phlebotomy experience required (Internship/Externship experience accepted)
- 1–2 years of customer-facing experience required (Retail, Healthcare, Home Health, Hospitality, or similar)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate approach
- Basic computer, keyboard, and data entry skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced patient care environment
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in a patient service center, physician office, or clinical setting
- Knowledge of specimen processing procedures
- Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
