Job Title: Phlebotomist III – Floater
Location: New Smyrna Beach, FL
Duration: 5+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift:

  • Monday – Friday: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM (1-hour lunch break)
  • Saturday: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM (No lunch break)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist III – Floater to join our team in New Smyrna Beach, FL. The Patient Services Representative III (PSR III) serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional patient care while performing high-quality specimen collection and processing. This role requires expertise in venipuncture, specimen handling, patient interaction, and adherence to established laboratory procedures.

As a Floater, the selected candidate will travel between multiple locations as needed to support staffing requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong phlebotomy skills, excellent customer service abilities, and the flexibility to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform blood collection procedures, including venipuncture, capillary, pediatric, and geriatric collections.
  • Prepare and process specimens accurately for laboratory testing following established procedures.
  • Verify patient identification and demographic information prior to specimen collection.
  • Ensure proper specimen labeling and obtain patient verification/signature when required.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection duties with confidence and accuracy.
  • Create a positive patient experience by explaining procedures and addressing concerns professionally.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure accuracy of patient information at all times.
  • Follow safety guidelines, infection control practices, and company policies.
  • Support multiple Patient Service Centers (PSCs) and physician office locations as business needs dictate.
  • Promote a professional image of the organization with patients, clients, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including:
    • Pediatric collections
    • Geriatric collections
    • Capillary collections
  • Strong specimen collection, handling, and processing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions based on established procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Keyboarding and data entry experience.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (if applicable).
  • Willingness to travel and support multiple locations with minimal notice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center (PSC) environment preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a healthcare, retail, or service-related environment preferred.

  • Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
