Position Summary
The Point of Care Testing (POCT) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting all aspects of the POCT program, including quality assurance, compliance, implementation of new testing methodologies, data management, and staff collaboration. This role ensures regulatory compliance while maintaining high standards of patient care across multiple testing sites.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Laboratory Science, Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science

MLS (ASCP) or MT (ASCP) Certification – Required

Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience

Prior Point of Care Testing (POCT) experience required

Experience with Telcor QML preferred

Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
Key Responsibilities
-
Coordinate daily POCT operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the POCT program and recommend process improvements.

Assist with the evaluation, validation, and implementation of new testing methodologies and instrumentation.

Develop and maintain POCT procedures, policies, and documentation.

Manage quality control, proficiency testing, inventory control, and compliance audits.

Monitor POCT information systems, investigate system flags, operator access, and patient identification discrepancies.

Review and update POCT manuals annually across all testing sites.

Collaborate with laboratory leadership, pathology administration, and clinical departments to standardize POCT practices.

Support special projects and initiatives to improve workflow and operational efficiency.

Maintain clear communication with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
