Shift: 12-Hour Day Shifts
Local Pay: $105 – $110 per hour
Traveler: $3500 – $4000 weekly gross
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to join a leading healthcare organization in Bakersfield, CA. The ideal candidate will provide advanced perioperative nursing care by assisting surgeons during operative procedures, ensuring patient safety, maintaining sterile technique, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional surgical care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons as a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) during surgical procedures.
- Perform comprehensive preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient assessments.
- Provide direct patient care using evidence-based nursing practice.
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure patient safety throughout surgical procedures.
- Assist with hemostasis, tissue handling, wound closure, exposure, and surgical instrumentation.
- Monitor patient status and respond appropriately to changes during surgery.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, scrub techs, and perioperative staff.
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures and postoperative care.
- Accurately document patient care within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance.
- Mentor and support new nursing staff while maintaining professional nursing standards.
Required Qualifications
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room/RNFA experience.
- Current AHA BLS Certification.
- RNFA Certification preferred or equivalent First Assistant experience.
- Strong perioperative nursing knowledge.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced surgical environment
