Title: RN – Med/Surg
Location: Summit, NJ
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 7PM to 7AM (Every Other Weekend)
Pay Rate: $54/HR ON W2
Duties:
- Has competent knowledge of all the normal stages of growth and development from Pediatric to Geriatric and delivers patient care appropriately. Performs thorough assessments that are systematic, comprehensive, and accurate.
- Consistently demonstrates competent clinical skills. Performs direct patient care activities in support of patient care delivery and the team concept. Provides competent and appropriate nursing care to the population of the unit. Demonstrates knowledge and skill of emergency equipment and procedures.
- Maintains complete and accurate documentation. Demonstrates knowledge of documentation guidelines. Assumes primary responsibility for documenting components of the nursing process and patient progress toward meeting outcomes in the patient’s chart, including patient education.
- Demonstrates professional practice responsibility. Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures and identifies areas for clinical and professional growth.
- Consistently responds to patients, families, and co-workers in a professional, courteous, and positive manner to promote a patient- and family-centered environment where the care team works cooperatively toward shared goals and objectives. Maintains confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
- Consistently follows the National Patient Safety Goals, including adherence to Universal Protocol and the use of two patient identifiers. Demonstrates safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for self and patients.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the conditions, diagnoses, procedures, and equipment encountered for surgical patients. Individualizes patient care according to the procedure and type of anesthesia across the continuum of care. Assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedures and instructions.
- Contributes to the perioperative team by assuming responsibility and accountability for directing patient care, prioritizing patients based on their needs and any changes in their condition.
- Assesses patient understanding of surgical procedures and instructions, actively involving the patient and family members in education. Performs pre-operative and post-operative assessments and education.
- Supports the timely completion of patient testing. Evaluates Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and identifies potential omissions based on the proposed surgery, patient age, and current health status.
Requirements:
- 1 Year of Med Surg experience required.
- BLS AHA.
- NJ or Compact State RN license required.
