Research Associate – I

Title: External Screening & In Vitro Biology Operations Associate

Location: Groton, CT
Duration: 6–12 Months Contract
Employment Type: Full-Time Contract

Pay Rate: $28.42/hr on W2

Position Summary

The External Screening & In Vitro Biology Operations Associate supports scientific research by managing external screening data, coordinating with Contract Research Organizations (CROs), and ensuring accurate data delivery for research teams. This role works closely with internal scientists and external vendors to support screening operations, data quality, and assay workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Data Management & Quality Control

  • Maintain and update external screening databases and vendor portals.
  • Process screening requests and validate incoming screening data.
  • Perform data quality checks (QC) before distributing results to scientific teams.
  • Format, upload, and publish screening data using standardized templates and tools.
  • Maintain accurate project records and vendor information.

External Vendor & CRO Coordination

  • Coordinate with external CROs and vendors regarding screening requests and project timelines.
  • Track deliverables and resolve data or workflow issues.
  • Ensure timely communication between internal scientists and external partners.

In Vitro Biology & Screening Support

  • Support transfer of plate-based screening assays to external CROs.
  • Organize assay protocols, control data, reference compounds, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain screening protocols and reference/control compound lists.
  • Coordinate registration of new control compounds when required.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain documentation in accordance with internal data governance standards.
  • Support audit readiness through accurate record keeping.
  • Follow established SOPs and data handling procedures.

Additional Support

  • Assist with operational projects and other screening activities as business needs evolve.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Experience with scientific data management or research data workflows.
  • Experience performing data quality control (QC).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in In Vitro Biology or In Vitro Pharmacology.
  • Experience with plate-based screening assays.
  • Experience working with Contract Research Organizations (CROs) or external research vendors.
  • Experience supporting laboratory screening operations.
  • Knowledge of scientific databases and data upload processes.
