Job Title: RN – Medical/Surgical
Location: Alexandria, LA 71301
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift/Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts; 36 or 48 hours/week guaranteed options; weekends may be required; no call; floating may be required
Job Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to Med/Surg patients, primarily post-surgical patients including orthopedic and general surgery populations, with a focus on neuro patients.
• Perform patient assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols and monitor effectiveness/side effects.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers and identify appropriate resources.
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers.
• Maintain a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1–6:1 depending on staffing.
• Willingness to float is required.

Requirements:

• Active RN license in the state of employment or compact RN license.
• BLS certification through AHA required.
• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
• BSN preferred.
• Must be willing to float.

Preferences:

• EPIC experience preferred/bonus.
• Med/Surg experience with post-surgical, orthopedic, general surgery, or neuro patient populations preferred.
