Location: Morristown, NJ
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 7a – 7p (Every Other Weekend)
Pay Rate: $70/HR ON W2
Summary:

The RN in Labor and Delivery is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients in the labor and delivery unit.
This role requires a thorough understanding of patient care from pediatric to geriatric stages, ensuring safety, professionalism, and effective communication with patients and families.

Responsibilities:

Assessment skills: Demonstrates competent knowledge of all the normal stages of growth and development from pediatric to geriatric and delivers patient care appropriately.
Performs thorough assessments that are systematic, comprehensive, and accurate.
Clinical Skills: Consistently demonstrates competent clinical skills and performs direct patient care activities in support of patient care delivery and team concept.
Provides competent and appropriate nursing care to the population of the unit.
Demonstrates knowledge and skill of emergency equipment and procedures.
Documentation: Maintains complete and accurate documentation and demonstrates knowledge of documentation guidelines.
Assumes primary responsibility for documenting components of the nursing process and patient’s progress toward meeting outcomes in the patient’s chart, including patient education.
Professionalism: Demonstrates professional practice responsibility and knowledge of policies and procedures, identifying areas for clinical and professional growth.
Patient Satisfaction: Consistently responds to patients, families, and co-workers in a professional, courteous, and positive manner to promote an environment where the patient and family are at the center.
Maintains confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
Safety: Consistently follows the National Patient Safety Goals, including following Universal Protocol and identifying patients utilizing two patient identifiers.
Demonstrates use of safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for self and patients.
Unit Specific Job Function: Demonstrates knowledge of the conditions/diagnoses, procedures, and equipment encountered for surgical patients.
Individualizes patient care according to the procedure and type of anesthesia across the continuum of care.
Assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedure/instructions.
Responsibility and Accountability: Contributes to the perioperative team by assuming responsibility and accountability for directing patient care by prioritizing the care of patients depending on their needs and any changes in their condition.
Patient Education and Chart Completion: Assesses patient’s understanding of surgical procedure/instructions, actively including the patient and family members in teaching.
Performs pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education.
Duties Specific to PAT RN: Supports the completion of patient testing in a timely manner.
Evaluates Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and for potential omissions based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current state of health.
