Job Title: RN – Medical/Surgical
Location: Alexandria, LA 71301
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift/Schedule: Nights, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM; Full Time; Every other weekend; No call; 5:1 or 6:1 nurse-to-patient ratio.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Provide routine and complex care to Med/Surg patients.
• Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols.
• Monitor patients for treatment effectiveness and side effects.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess patient learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
• Identify patient issues and appropriate resources.
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers.
• Demonstrate effective clinical judgment and manage changing patient-care situations.

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
• BLS from AHA required.
• Active RN license in the state of employment or compact RN license required.
• BSN preferred.
• Med/Surg experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage routine and complex patient care.

Preferences:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Previous Med/Surg travel nursing experience.
• Strong clinical judgment and delegation skills.
• Experience managing a 5:1 or 6:1 patient ratio.
