Summary:

The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer supports modernization efforts by transitioning existing reporting solutions to updated data sources and platforms. This role involves working on moderately complex to complex issues, requiring an in-depth understanding of Power BI, DAX, and SSRS/Paginated reporting. The engineer applies specialized knowledge of Power BI development, DAX modeling, report migrations, dataset design, and paginated report rebuilding. They make decisions on technical approaches for assigned project components and exercise considerable latitude in determining methods, requirements, and sequencing of work to meet delivery timelines.

Responsibilities:

• Support modernization efforts by transitioning existing reporting solutions to updated data sources and platforms.
• Work on moderately complex to complex issues requiring an in-depth understanding of Power BI, DAX, and SSRS/Paginated reporting.
• Apply specialized knowledge of Power BI development, DAX modeling, report migrations, dataset design, and paginated report rebuilding.
• Make decisions on moderately complex to complex technical approaches for assigned project components.
• Exercise considerable latitude in determining methods, requirements, and sequencing of work to meet delivery timelines.

Required Skills:

• Strong focus on Power BI development and SQL code.
• 5 or more years of hands-on experience developing Power BI solutions, including data modeling, DAX measure creation, and report/dashboard design.
• Advanced experience converting or rebuilding SSRS reports into Power BI or Paginated Reports.
• Experience transitioning reports to new data sources, including updating queries, validating logic, and redesigning datasets.
• Experience with T-SQL for validating data sources, rebuilding queries, and understanding legacy SSRS datasets.
• Proficiency in Power Query (M) for data shaping and transformation.
• Strong understanding of dataset architecture, model optimization, relationships, and performance tuning.
• Ability to analyze existing reporting logic and accurately replicate or improve it in Power BI or Paginated Reports.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for documenting requirements, logic changes, and technical decisions.
