Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Coordinator, Manager, or Director, the Certified Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for cleaning, inspecting, assembling, packaging, disinfecting, and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment used throughout the hospital, including the Operating Room, Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery, inpatient and outpatient departments, and satellite locations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Cleaning, inspecting, assembling, packaging, and sterilizing surgical instruments and medical equipment.
- Operating and documenting sterilization processes, including Steam, EtO (Ethylene Oxide), Sterrad, and high-level disinfection.
- Monitoring sterilization quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with regulatory and hospital standards.
- Preparing procedure-specific case carts based on surgeon preference cards.
- Anticipating instrumentation and supply needs for upcoming surgical cases.
- Receiving, unpacking, stocking, and rotating sterile supplies while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
- Collaborating with surgical specialty teams to ensure all required instruments, equipment, implants, and supplies are available for each patient.
Required Qualifications
- 5β7 years of Sterile Processing experience.
- Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPT) certification (required).
- BLS certification (required).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to follow directions, work collaboratively, and maintain strong attendance.
